Coven Cocktail™ is a tangy tea with fresh peach, bright citrus, and tropical fruit flavors. The ruby-red liquor of this potion will enchant you and your guests and is best served over ice. You’ll be delighted with the sparkle and shimmer of your potion!
How to Brew Your Potion
Coven Cocktail™ is designed to be amazing either hot or iced, with or without sweetener. That said, honey, sugar, or other natural sweeteners will make the shimmer pop and will bring out the fruity notes. You can brew it hot (200°F-212°F) or cold in the refrigerator.
Hot Tea
Use 1 teaspoon of potion per 6-8 oz of water. Bring water to a rolling boil or nearly boiling (200°F-212°F) and steep for 4-5 minutes. Sweeten if desired. You may re-brew the used tea for a lighter second cup.
Iced Tea, Punch, & Ritual Beverage
Use 1 rounded tablespoon of potion per 8 oz of water. Steep for 5 minutes. Remove spent tea, sweeten to taste, and chill your infusion. Pour chilled potion over ice and enjoy.
Friday’s Infusion Method
To use Coven Cocktail as initially designed, your Witcharista (Friday Gladheart) recommends making a strong infusion either by hot or cold brewing methods. This creates a sweetened concentrate with lemon juice that you can use over ice or as you would a cordial. When you are adding lemon juice and sugar, start with about 2/3 of the amount recommended. Taste your brew, and add more sugar and lemon juice as desired. This treat has about 1/3 the sugar found in most soda pop, and you can substitute honey or other natural sweeteners for the sugar.
For the hot version, steep 1 oz of Coven Cocktail™ in 2 quarts of very hot water for 5-7 minutes. Add 1 ½-2 cups sugar and ⅓– ½ cup lemon juice. Add ice to make 1 gallon and adjust the taste with additional lemon juice or sugar.
For the cold version, add 1 oz Coven Cocktail™ to 3/4 gallon (3 quarts or 12 cups) cold or room temperature water. Place in the refrigerator overnight. After at least 6 hours, strain the brew and sweeten with about 1 ½-2 cups sugar and ⅓– ½ cup lemon juice.
Adult Cocktails & Ritual Beverages
Mix a tablespoon of infusion (using Friday’s method above into 4-6 oz mead or wine. For a Witchy cocktail, add 1 oz vodka to 6 oz infusion over ice. Add extra sweetener before chilling and use in place of cranberry juice in your favorite cocktails!
Spring Fling Recipe
Brew 1/2 ounce Coven Cocktail™ in 1 quart very hot water for 10 minutes. Stir well and strain. While your brew is still warm, sweeten it with 1 cup raw honey or 1 1/4 cup sugar. Add 1/2 cup lemon juice and chill.
Select a tall 8-12 ounce glass. You can sugar the rim if you like, and red cake decorating sugar is a nice touch. Fill the glass with ice and drizzle 1/4 cup (2 ounces) of the brew over the ice. Add 1 ounce clear rum or vodka. Fill the glass the rest of the way with your favorite soda. Pour the soda slowly to minimize loosing carbination. For this recipe we prefer Squirt, Sprite, 7-Up, ginger ale, or Mountain Dew. Garnish with a twist of lemon, cherries, or any seasonal fruit.
